Results from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey Rolling Programme

Today Public Health England published results from years 7 and 8 of the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) rolling programme. This report covers years 2014/15 to 2015/16. The NDNS rolling programme is a continuous programme, carried out across the United Kingdom to assess the diet, nutrient intake and nutritional status of both adults and children.

Health Inequalities Report 2018

The Department of Health in Northern Ireland (NI) have published the “Health Inequalities – Annual Report 2018”. The report examines the health inequality gaps between those in the most and least deprived areas in NI. The report looks at inequality gaps across a number of different health indicators including diet.

Nutritional labelling on menus may reduce the calories we buy

A new review published in the Cochrane Library has found evidence that nutritional labelling on menus can reduce the calories purchased in restaurants. The researchers found that calorie labelling on menus would reduce energy purchased per meal by 7.8% or 47kcal (on an average 600kcal meal).
