Shift work and health

Shift workers can be at a higher risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, digestive problems, sleep disorders, depression and vitamin D deficiency than those who work standard hours. The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) has produced guidelines for employees and employers to promote healthier lifestyles among shift workers. Read more about these recommendations on the EUFIC website.

Check out presentations from a workshop "From shift work to shifting the pounds" hosted by the All island Obesity Action Forum in June 2012.
