Health survey Northern Ireland

This week the Department of Health released data from the Health survey Northern Ireland, with data from 2010/11 to 2017/18 on BMI, diet, sexual health, drinking and smoking habits, physical activity and illness.

Finding include:

  • 64% of adults with BMI classified as overweight or obese, a 5% increase from 2010
  • From 2015-2018 there has been a 6% increase in children with a normal BMI
  • 5% increase in people consuming 5 or more portions of fruit and vegetables daily from 2010, amounting to 38% of individuals surveyed
