Association of lifestyle factors with physical activity levels in pregnancy

A study was carried out in Cork to investigate the link between age, diet, lifestyle factors and physical activity level in early pregnancy. 1,774 women were recruited aged between 17 and 45 years.

Key results included:

  • Non-smokers and women who regularly ate fruit and vegetables were more likely to participate in regular moderate to vigorous exercise
  • Women of a higher social class and education level were more likely to participate in a moderate level of regular exercise.
