Report on tackling childhood obesity

The Joint committee on Children and Youth Affairs has released a report on tackling childhood obesity stating 20 recommendations the government should consider.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has released an evaluation of the implementation of recommendation for the marketing of foods and non-alcoholic beverages to children within the European Region.

New strategies to halve childhood obesity by 2030

The UK government have announced the second part of their childhood obesity plan which aims to reduce childhood obesity by half by 2030. This follows on from the first part of the childhood obesity: a plan for action published in 2016.

A new report has been released by Cancer Research UK examining marketing of foods high in fat, sugar and salt to young people. This is the second report from Cancer Research UK using data from a survey with young people.

Teens who watch TV ads for junk food likely to crave junk food

Cancer Research UK have published a new report entitled “New evidence on TV marketing and junk food consumption amongst 11-19 year olds 10 years after broadcast regulations”. The report examines young people’s exposure to junk food marketing on television and its link to diet and weight.
