What is the future for nutritional labelling? Supporting healthier food choices

Event overview

The event will explore the impact food labels have on consumer choice and how nutritional labelling in the future could help consumers make healthier food choices.


Dr Rachel Crockett from the University of Sterling will present results of a recent Cochrane Systematic Review on nutritional labelling for healthier food or non-alcoholic drink purchasing and consumption, and will discuss what the results can tell us about future population interventions to tackle obesity.

Dr Inez Bailey from the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) will explore health literacy policy and practice in Ireland and the practical tools we can use to support people with health literacy needs.

Dr Kathleen Mooney from the Food Standards Agency, NI will provide an insight into front-of-pack nutrition labelling practices in the UK and how it supports nutrition policy in FSA NI.

Dr Michel Chauliac from the Ministry of Solidarities and Health France will share insights from their new front-of-pack labelling system: Nutri-score.
