Scale €45,655 - €55,173
Reports to Chief Specialist in Nutrition
Location Cork. However as safefood is an all island body there will be a requirement to travel from time to time.

Job Purpose

The role will primarily assist and support safefood’s Human Health and Nutrition (HHN) Directorate in carrying out the functions of nutrition and health. Activities will include reviewing and developing consumer and health professional material for safefood’s website; reviewing, editing and formatting technical reports; and collating and analysing evidence for national / regional reports prepared by safefood.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support the review and update of healthy eating and other nutritional advice for consumers and related resources for other key audiences on safefood website
  • To support HHN in developing content for a web based weight loss resource for adults using existing materials
  • Support the communication of safefood - funded research findings in publications including reviewing, editing and formatting reports ensure both accuracy and accessibility to a range of audiences
  • Analyse relevant scientific literature and evidence reports on specific topics, such as energy drinks and food labelling, and support the update of existing documents previously prepared by safefood
  • Contribute to cross directorate projects, team projects and other tasks such as required

Person Specification

Essential qualifications and experience

  • An honours degree in human nutrition or equivalent (course must be accredited/recognised by UK Register of Nutrition, Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, British Dietetic Association)
  • At least three years post qualification experience in scientific assessments, project research, report writing, and information evaluation
  • Experience in using research evidence to develop material for a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in public health/nutrition
