Handwashing for children

Have you met Rufus? Rufus is our friendly monster who is here to help children learn good handwashing habits and help you prevent infections like E.coli .

E.coli is a nasty bacteria which can make young children seriously ill as their immune system is not yet strong enough to fight off infection. Teaching good handwashing habits is the best way to keep E.coli at bay!

Handwashing is particularly important after children have gone to the toilet to make sure all of the harmful germs are washed away.

Rufus has lots ideas to make learning good handwashing habits fun. Children can learn the 5 steps to handwashing (wet, soap, rub, rinse, dry) with Rufus’s poster and colouring-in sheets.

If you’d like us to send you a splash-proof poster, email us at info@safefood.eu with your name and address.

And Rufus has a fun song, sung to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat which everyone can sing as they are washing their hands.

Wash, wash, wash your hands,
Thumbs and fingers too,
Rinse and then make sure they’re dry,
That’s the thing to do!”
