Dietetic Directory

                                                                                                                    Login to the Dietetic Directory

The Dietetic Directory contains information on dietetic activities on the island of Ireland. The information available includes contact details, clinical areas, and pilot and research projects.  It provides a means of easily accessing and disseminating information from dietitians to dietitians. Furthermore, it aims to increase communication and collaboration between dietitians/clinical nutritionists across the island of Ireland.

About the directory
Across the island of Ireland a huge amount of work is being carried out in the area of nutrition - ranging from research projects to clinical activities, health promotion to policy development. There is much to be learned from the outcomes of these activities and the experiences of those involved.

The all-island directory of nutrition activities provides a way of easily accessing and disseminating this information. In addition to providing a valuable information resource the directory will facilitate communication and collaboration between dietitians, quickly identifying colleagues with relevant expertise and providing access to information on projects of interest.  safefood, with the support of the INDI and the BDA, are facilitating the directory as part of it’s remit to promote co-operation and linkages across the island of Ireland.

The initial phase of the directory was launched in March 2006 with over 70% of the dietetic departments on the Island of Ireland participating. The directory was updated in July/August 2007.

Who has access to the directory?

Dietitians working on the island of Ireland are entitled to access the directory. Information on the directory is not open to members of the public.

Access to the database is only permitted to dietitians/clinical nutritionists on the island of Ireland using a username and password. You can apply for a username and password online here. Dietitians accessing the database are asked to read and adhere to a code of ethics for use of the database to protect their data.

How to access the directory?

To access the directory you first have to apply for a username and password on the directory overview page.

How to update the directory?

The directory is continually updated and dietitians can download the database questionnaires to revise any aspect of their projects or clinical activities at any time.  Dietitian managers will also be given a secure password allowing them online editing access to directly update or amend any information on the database relevant to their department.

There are two ways to ensure that your information is kept up to date:

By downloading the database questionnaires, completing them and emailing them to Sarah Keogh at dietetics@safefood.eu.  Always advise your dietetic manager before submitting changes to the database.

  • If you are entering a new department into the directory download both questionnaire 1 and questionnaire 2
  • If you are updating information in the directory download questionnaire 2
  • By submitting information to your dietetic manager. Dietitian managers will also be given a secure password which will allow them online editing access to directly update or change any information on the database relevant to their department.
