Come visit safefood's interactive kitchen at this summer's Northern Ireland Agricultural Shows

15th June 2010: safefood and the All-island Obesity Action forum today hosted a workshop which looked at a European model in use for tackling obesity in young people and specifically, the experiences of the EPODE European Network (France) which adopted a partnership approach to addressing this serious public health issue. At present, approximately one in five boys and one in four girls starting primary school are classified as being overweight or obese [1].

Monday, 31st May 2010: Research conducted for the ‘Happy Heart Eat Out’ campaign, revealed that 68% of consumers think offering smaller portion sizes is a good idea.

May 12th 2010: safefood today reminded consumers to keep food safety on the menu by highlighting poor food hygiene practices common in the home. A recent study revealed that raw meat bacteria was detected on 60% of sinks and drainers, on 36.7% of taps and on 43.3% of kitchen worktops while consumers were preparing a meal [1].
