The purpose of this work was to survey the sugar and caffeine content of energy drink products available on the market on the island of Ireland during a one week period in 2019 and to compare this with data gathered in 2015.

This data will be used to update the energy drinks infographics available for the public on our website. The timing of these two reports provides a snapshot of the energy drinks market before and after the implementation of the sugar tax. The introduction of the sugar levy is a potential catalyst for change within the energy drink market and it is important to document any shift in sugar and caffeine content, in particular.
