New research has found eating fish and other foods containing omega-3 fatty acids may lower the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers in the US studied 1,219 people over the age of 65 who were free of dementia, and have suggested a higher dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids is associated with reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease and slower cognitive decline.
This is a new area of research and still in its infancy, however healthy eating guidelines recommend 2 portions of fish a week and oily fish such as salmon is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Read more about the study in the
