BMI is generally used to assess overweight and obesity for individuals. However, carrying weight around your middle in particular can increase your risk of related health conditions including heart disease and stroke, type II diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnoea, metabolic syndrome and some cancers1. This is why knowing you waist measurement is important.
