Why eat less meat, especially processed meats?

Irish men on average consume 30.9g of processed meat a day compared to women who consume 19.9g a day.

Too much processed meat has been linked with heart disease and cancer. Some varieties are quite high in salt.

How do I reduce my meat intake?

  1. Go for meat-free days once or twice a week. We have some delicious meat free recipes for you to try.
  2. If you enjoy bacon or sausage at breakfast, reduce down to once a week and try an egg on other days.
  3. If you use deli meats for your sandwich during the week, go for alternatives such as tuna, salmon, egg or hummus.
