The first all-island food skills website designed for trainers and teachers working with Early School Leavers.
eatright.eu is a free online resource developed by safefood and the Food Standards Agency in Northern Ireland. It was developed in response to safefood funded research which highlighted that there was a need for a targeted and relevant resource to support Early School Leaver trainers in the delivery of life skills training around food
Designed in consultation with teachers and trainers eatright.eu uses a blended learning approach to make learning fun. It was piloted with Early School Leavers in different centres.
eatright.eu has three modules packed with up-to-date information, videos and activities. Early School Leavers can learn about:
Concepts such as food groups can be difficult to understand, and even more difficult to apply to everyday life. The healthy eating module uses everyday food and meals to explain what the food groups are and their role in maintaining a balanced diet.
We all know what it’s like to get a dose of food poisoning. It can be very unpleasant and even worse, life-threatening. The food safety module explains the basics of food hygiene, food storage, preparation and cooking.
Physical activity and energy balance
Being active sometimes falls to the bottom of the to-do list. It can seem like it is difficult to organise and not much fun! The physical activity and energy balance module explains why physical activity is important and where the energy we need comes from.
