We know that every parent wants to give their child a treat now and again and that’s okay. The question is "How much and how often?"
There is no recommended amount of treat foods, such as crisps, biscuits, cakes, sweets and chocolate, but the general guide is "small amounts and not every day".
What would a typical week look like if you followed this advice?
Monday - No treat foods
Tuesday - No treat foods
Wednesday - Visit granny and have a small bowl of ice cream after dinner
Thursday - No treat foods
Friday - A bag of crisps watching a movie to celebrate the end of the school week
Saturday - You drop into the shop to buy milk after football practice and buy a small bar of chocolate for the journey home
Sunday – You eat dinner out and your kid’s meal includes a small brownie for dessert
